Printing a pre-assembled mechanism

Powder bed technologies need no supports, so a complete assembly can be produced in one go. Key points:

• clearance between parts – ≥0.7 mm;
• openings to blow powder out of the gaps;
• parts should not touch across large flat surfaces.

FDM and SLA

With these technologies it is usually better to produce moving parts separately and assemble them – supports inside the gaps are hard to remove.
